It comes out in early September. I've gone back-and-forth between really wanting it, and thinking it's going to be a worse game than Sims 2 and 3. It doesn't have many of the features of Sims 2 and 3, but it has some other, new features that (hopefully) make up for what it's missing.
For example, unlike the previous games, Sims 4 is NOT going to have: Pools Toddlers Story progression Terrain sculpting Basements Drivable cars Supernatural beings Create-a-Style (the program in Sims 3 that allows you to put any pattern or color on anything) Open worlds
Now, it will surely get several of these things back in expansions, but the base game will not have them. The two things that have been officially confirmed as being permanently gone are the open world and Create-a-Style. Sims 4 will have a closed world with loading screens like in Sims 2.
However, Sims 4 WILL have: A nice Create-a-Sim Hats will be separate from hairstyles, so you can pair any hat with any hairstyle Better routing Sim multi-tasking (for example, they supposedly can eat and listen to music at the same time, thus filling their hunger and "fun" needs simultaneously) Woodworking and gardening in the base game (among other things) Violin, guitar and piano in the base game, with a music skill
I'm sure I'll be getting Sims 4 eventually, but I may wait a few months until I can get it on sale.

I'm looking forward to it. I have never understood those that hate on sims 3 because they prefer sims 2 because I find each one has been better than the last. Sure sims 3 took a bit of getting used to but that's to be expected. I am a bit disappointed about no pools or toddlers being avaliable as we've had them for so long it seems odd to take them away especially toddlers as it's a natural life stage and they have way more interactions avaliable than babies do. (And obviously pools were for fun and exercise) As for story progression, I am positive someone will make a mod for that and like you said there will be expansion packs. Supernatural was so popular that I am positive it will get one eventually. I really like what I've seen of CAS. Just being able to stretch and pull to make your sims more unique. I love that they'd finally made hats separate. The amount of times I've had this really nice hairstyle on a sim and then the sim has gone to work and it's been replaced with a rubbish one with a hat! I also really like the fact the traits and moods are going to play a bigger part in relationships and what not this time round and that there's different walks for different personalities. Looking forward to experimenting with that. I won't be going out and buying it on release day though. Be sticking it on the Christmas list instead

I'll probably be sticking it on the Christmas list, too. I'll get my husband to buy it for me. LOL! I really loved Sims 3, and I still play it on occasion. I think Sims 4 will be fun, too, but I'm worried I'll miss things like Create-a-Style and the open world.
It wasn't quite fair of me to put basements on the list, because the Sims games have NEVER had basements in the base games. I'll still miss them, though, until they put basements in an expansion.

Same xD Well... the boyfriend anyway. I think it'll be fun, just try to keep an open mind about those missing things. No that's true. I have seen others make them though. Basically using the first floor as the basement and building two more floors for upstairs and downstairs.

There is a demo of the Create-a-Sim portion of the game that is supposed to be released next week sometime. (Some people were saying it'll be released on Tuesday, the 12th, but EA hasn't confirmed this.) I want that demo so badly! EDIT: Yes, the demo was released. It's now available on Origin.

I got Sims 4! It's pretty good. I like Sims 3 a little bit better, but I've been having fun playing 4 for the past week. The only thing that drives me crazy about Sims 4 is that it doesn't have the open world that Sims 3 had. Other than that, some things were improved like pathfinding/routing. The Sims can actually get around each other now without blocking one another, which makes gameplay pretty smooth. It has loading screens, but they're pretty fast on my computer. The lack of Create-a-Style isn't bothering me like I thought it would. The multi-tasking is pretty awesome! They can eat and watch TV and talk to each other all at the same time. It needs a lot more venues (public access locations like restaurants, a cemetery, a bookstore, etc.). It has a few venues, but the ones it has are pretty dull, in my opinion. I think it'll be really fun with expansions, though, once it gets a few more "worlds" and public areas. But overall, I'm having fun with it. I'm already doing custom content/modding for it. You can see some custom Zelf shirts I made for the game at this link here: love-yourzelf.freeforums.net/thread/312/custom-zelf-shirts-work-screenshots.

Congrats on getting sims 4. I've seen quite a few peoples playthroughs and I have to say it does look good and nice and smooth. There are definitely some aspects I really like. (Like how easy it is to build a house and the option of set rooms) Still not sure why Toddlers were removed. I'd rather have had babies I tend to age babies into toddlers straight away as toddlers can crawl, learn and play but all babies do is cry. ^^; Anyway I'm glad your liking it and I love your zelf shirts
