I am so excited! I guess several minutes of clips from the first episode leaked yesterday, including the full opening sequence. I'm avoiding the spoilers like crazy, though -- I want to wait until I can experience it all at once!

cant wait to see it! I hear everyone complaining about the art style that was chosen for the new anime but really im bothered by the fact that she didn't bother rebooting the character designs! I mean if i had a successful cartoon and was rebooting it 20 years later id update the designs! has anyone here ever seen the old character designs that where draw out before the final design? those were freakin crazy awesome?!

I don't think of Sailor Moon Crystal as a reboot at all, to be honest. It is a modern adaption of the manga, not a new version of the anime. I can see the influence of Naoko Takeuchi's art style in the new character designs, so I'm okay with it so far (and we've seen so little of it in action yet that it's hard to form a real opinion).

I really hate it when they make the anime exactly like the manga. its like watching a movie and they take no artistic liberties to make it alil different |

I watched the leaked videos (duh), and it feels very computerized... Even more so in the transformation scene. It just feels weird.
But eh, I'd watch Sailor Moon even if the episodes were made out of macaroni.

I'd be pretty disappointed if it was the same thing redrawn. I'd also feel bad for the animators. Well,guess we will have to wait and see. I saw In the vid opening that they kept zoicite(sp?) male like she was original supposed to be so that should be interesting. |

Okay, so having watched the first episode, it really is the manga being animated isn't it? Not entirely sure what I make of the art style - for some reason Usagi seems too ... pointy. Yeah, I know, such a eloquent way of describing it, but it's the best thing that comes to mind. That being said, I really did enjoy the episode - though not sure how I feel about CGI transformation scene - and looking forward to seeing how the rest will progress

I still don't know what to think of it. Still a major thing for me is that the outfits are basically the same. wish she made it look more futuristic!(or even kept her first rough sketch of the sailor outfits) ive seen so many amazing redesigns that would have made watching this so much more awesome! I love all of the touches that where made different, like sailor moons boomerang!
ALSO
I heard someone point out before that the expressions are basically all gone and I must agree. Serena used to be super expressive. a huge dork and klutz now she's kind reminds me of those obnoxious kawaii girls that are super careful to make sure every single moment they live they looks cute. and ami is more socially awkward than shy.

I guess it's okay for a remake.
But if that was the first version, I doubt that Sailor Moon would have been such a huge phenomenon.
You can't relate as much to the characters.
