I wanted to chat about my most recent find at Toys R Us today, and wasn't sure which thread to put it in. So .... Here's a thread where we can all chat about our most recent finds. So here's my story of what happened today: Last week I ordered several Zelfs from the TRU web site, and one of the Bubblegum Zelfs I'd ordered came in with a horribly wonky eye. I took the Zelf and the receipt to my local TRU here to return it. While I was there, I walked over to see if they'd gotten any new Zelfs in ... and they had! They had exactly two mediums there that hadn't been there before and a whole shipment of Series 1 larges.  Ack! I think TRU must have had some excess stock they were trying to get rid of, so they sent it to Alabama. Sigh.  I almost wanted to buy the large Vampula just to help them get rid of excess stock. But the two mediums they had on the shelf were Lady B and MANNY!!!!!  I already had Lady B, so I grabbed Manny the second I saw him. He may have been picked over and unwanted, because it looked like he had a small black spot on his tummy that shouldn't be there. I took a chance on him, and bought him. Got him home and ... I was able to get the black spot off his tummy by merely scratching it a bit with my fingernail. He is now blemish-free and perfect!!! Yay! I'm just glad I was there at the right moment. I swear he's been *almost* as hard to find as Snowphie. |

CONGRATS! :throws confetti everywhere: lol its funny you say you found him with lady b because that's who I found him with at my trip to tru. I think many and lady b are the only series 2/3 I actually bought in store. everyone else I got online XD

We went on a bit of a Zelf hunt today! Went to couple of Tesco and Asda stores, none had anything new, but Toys R Us come up trumps! In the usual Zelf section they only had ONE Zelf, a lonely little Dandy Lion. We thought that's all they had, however just round the corner they had a brand new freestanding Zelf section! They had all the playsets, some of the new Zelicious Zelfs and a mix of season 2 and 3 Zelfs. Rick came home with Ty Foon, Sealia and Strawberry Vampula. They only had the one Ty Foon otherwise I would have bought him too and unfortunately there was still no Float, so I just came home with Frostette. We also bought a Lil Zelf tin as I'd heard a rumour that Jewely is popping up in them. We gave them all a bit of a shake and one sounded like it had something extra inside... We decided to risk it and buy it... And guess who was inside!!!
So all in all a pretty amazing hunt!

*edit* And congrats to you, too, rickadams1980! I didn't realize that was your video until I watched it today.
Violet, I'm glad that spot came off of Manny. At this point, I think the only way I'd pass on buying one was if he had a major flaw. It's like he's almost become the 4th limited Zelf!
As for recent finds, I went to TRU last night, and they finally had the Zelicious Zelfs in stock, so I was able to get Strawberry Vampula. Yay! |

As for recent finds, I went to TRU last night, and they finally had the Zelicious Zelfs in stock, so I was able to get Strawberry Vampula. Yay! I love my Strawberry Vampula. I'm not sure what vampires have to do with strawberries, but I'm happy about the combo. LOL. She has a whole different character than the original Vampula, I think. Regarding Manny: I saw the black spot in the store, but it was on a part of his body that was paint-free, so I figured I could resort to using acetone on a Q-tip to get it off if it didn't come off by washing or scratching with my fingernail. Luckily, I didn't have to resort to acetone. It always makes me nervous to use acetone on a figure like that, because one tiny drip of the acetone, and suddenly the paint on his legs would have been ruined. Plus, acetone can eat vinyl, so of course I'd have to wash it off right away with water.  TO TOMALADE: GAAAAHHHH!!! I'm so jealous! They never seem to send the rares to Alabama. I can barely even find Zelfs here, much less the rare ones. Congrats. |

Awwwwww, I echo what people have said so far - Manny was nearly as difficult to find as a 'rare' zelf! Luckily I got him this week, along with a couple of the new large Zelfs (Deeno,Talon,Marsha,Noodles) online. Glad you managed to get the mark off aswell Violet, although I never really noticed any bad paint jobs on any of the ones I have so far.
Lady B and Manny!?! I think Dorothy Doe may have something to say about it! (I know a lot of people have Dot/Manny ships) Haha. Mind you, who else could you pair Lady B up with???
Congrats Tom and Rick in finding Jewely! I had heard they had hidden some of her in the tins, so its great that you found her that way! I got her free off character a few months back, but next time I'm passing Smyths or Toys R Us I may have to shake a few tins!!! Haha.

Ah, so it wasn't just me then! That's good to know. Wished I had looked around before getting her now. I sent a notification to character-online and they said they would let me know when Manny was back in stock, as he was showing out of stock for ages, one day I happened to be looking on the site, and saw him available so quickly snapped him up, and an hour later he was back out of stock again. So that was quite lucky. He is such lovely colours, the green/gold colours look nice together! Hope u manage to find him soon! |

MLP's can often have a head that is different from their body, but that is because there's two different types of plastic used to make the toy. The body is a harder, firmer plastic and the head is a softer, slightly squishy plastic so they can thread the hair into it. But I don't think that's the case with Zelfs, the head and body are the same plastic as far as I can tell. I think you just got a random bad one, Catsy. :\

Oh, no!! Yeah, that Strampula is definitely defective.
I got a Bubblee whose head is a slightly different pink than her body. I thought she was supposed to be that way, but now I'm not so sure. ...

The Bubblees I've seen so far looked how you describe. I think that's standard for her as her body is semi-translucent but her head is opaque, presumably the head couldn't be translucent otherwise you'd see where the hair is fixed in! |

With regards to Bubblee, mine has the same head and body colour, it was only Strampula that I noticed was different and those that were in the shop all had the same diff head/body combo's so i assumed they were all like that until I saw pics on here. Super dooper chuffed! Went on a massive Zelf hunt today in Bristol and managed to track down Elfa (for me) and Lil' D and Lochlan for Rick. Saw a few of new large Zelfs too. Deeno is SO cute! Saw Miss Tutu although still not keen on her.

After being so thrilled with Chocolaa (so cute!) and Strawberry Vampula (cute, plus great scent!), I thought I'd give another scented Zelf a try and bought Mint Spellinda today (I love mint!). She doesn't even smell the slightest bit minty, though. What little bit of scent that is there isn't very pleasant at all. So disappointing! I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep her now.

I just traded an out of box Snowphie for an inbox Manny!
I don't mind trading rares for "non-rares" especially if it's one I can't find!
I also bought large Catsby and large Webina today at TRU for $6.49 using Walmart.com price match! I'm slowly but surely clearing out their large stock!
Also got my friend to purchase large Deeno, I had already bought the large Deeno at her TRU!
Such a steal at a regular Zelf price! Get on it before TRU catches on!

She doesn't even smell the slightest bit minty, though. What little bit of scent that is there isn't very pleasant at all. So disappointing! I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep her now. Well, never mind! I've decided to keep her for now, as my opinion of this set changed after I opened the packaging.
I really appreciate the fact that her hands line up with the wheelbarrow's handles, so that it can somewhat look like Spellinda is pushing it. Also, that wheelbarrow is too cute with a bunch of mini Zelfs riding in it. Finally, I was glad to see that the wheel is a separate piece that can turn, rather than the wheelbarrow being made of one solid piece of plastic. It's really a great accessory!
As for Mint Spellinda, what little bit of scent that she had seems to have completely faded away. I do wish that they had bothered to get the scent right. I think it would be even better, though, if there was a new peppermint-themed Zelf, possibly with a red and white color scheme.

Just traded a Snowphie for Miss Clover, very excited to receive her soon!! Found Strawberry Vampula at my TRU who fits in well with my nature themed collection! I also got Snap Jack and Noodles recently- love them both!!

Found Snap Jack last week randomly in Tesco which made me super chuffed as I thought I was going to have to pay over the odds on eBay. Also managed to get a Kitsu from Argos for £3.99 so that was great too as he's really hard to find in my area.
