When Series 1 was released, the bio for Flamy referred to her as a girl (Moose even said Lil' D was the only boy, but there would be more introduced in series 2). But when the Masquerade set was released, the pamphlet said Flamy was a boy! What do you personally think Flamy is? I'm going with girl, personally, since she's definitely a girl in the web cartoons.

I'm definitely going to have to go with girl as we'll!
Moose Toys isn't known for the spelling, I've noticed a few mistakes as we'll! What does the website say even? I think it might be girl!

Maybe Flamy doesn't have to be either none of my Zelfs have genders, personally. Male, female, they all look the same so why bother! They're just CUTE!

I really like the idea of her being a girl because it's just such an original idea. Most toy lines have the 'strong, protective' personality character be male. Like females need a big strong guy to protect them. (Plus we always put dragons and young males together in stories, like How To Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, Eragon, etc. Girls like dragons just as much, but we never see girls and dragons together these days!)
When I saw in the Series 1 bio that Flamy was a girl, I thought it was totally awesome! A strong female character. Nice. But then the Masquerade bios came out and I saw she had been switched to a he, and I was very disappointed. It's not the first time a company switched the gender of a character, and I could understand them wanting more boy characters since Lil'D was the only one in Series 1. But I was really disappointed they took an original female character and made 'him' more stereotypical, the 'protective male' character.
Someone on the MLP Arena said they sent a message to Moose asking about the switched gender and the reply was that Flamy was indeed a boy for sure. If I'm remembering right, anyway... I'll have to go dig up the thread and look to make sure.
I'm glad she's a girl in the webisodes. ^_^

I thought she was a boy but I like Dragonflitter's reasons, so my headcanon is that Flamy is a tomboy

I always thought Flamy was a girl. I ... Okay, maybe this is paying far too much attention to when we were discussing gender being installed in children at a young age due to the way in which toys and media is presented to them but the idea that, like Dragonflitter said, that Flamy was the strong protective type, and was also female? Well, that seemed really awesome to me. It would also make sense with Zardenia; which seems to have a larger female to male ratio, that not all of them fit the standards by which we, as humans, would view attributes connected with a gender. TL;DR - I'll go with the original gender assigned. Though midnightmocha brings up a brilliant point about them needing to have genders at all. Would the denizens of Zardenia see gender the same way we do? There could be totally different expectations about what 'gender' means, and what behaviours they would link ... Okay, okay, it's a child's toys, I'm reading too much into this. But it is fun to think on

Dragonflitter, that is -exactly- why I liked her as a female too! I always love seeing really strong female characters.

So I just went to go check out the webisodes--hadn't gotten a chance to watch them before now. Love the ep with Flamy and Garny, quite funny! But seriously, I could NOT tell they were both female, at first. Their voices are both so androgynous, they could have been boys or girls to me! It wasn't until they show up at Tressa's and she's like "GIRLS!" and I'm like "Whoa they're both girls?"
Haha but yeah, I love the ep and the thought of Flamy and Garny always butting heads makes me laugh. XD

I know! That episode surprised me too but regardless, I'm glad some of them have androgynous voices. After all, there's no wrong way to be a girl, or a boy, or whatever! So they should sound and look like everything in between!

Okay somehow I totally missed that Flamy lives in a Chinese lantern and that makes me so excited, because the Chinese dragon is my Chinese zodiac!

I wish she came with that little dragon she has on her arm. <3 Same here! Hopefully they'll consider releasing them all with an animal friend in the future.

The packaging for Series 1 says Flamy is a girl. The webisodes say Flamy is a girl. But... A few months ago, I emailed Moose Toys to ask about Flamy and Lochlan. Lochlan is widely thought to be a boy, but on the back of Super Zelf Lochlan's box (at least the UK version), Lochlan is referred to as both "him" and "she." This was the official response I received: So, in other words...the plot thickens!

To be honest, that's a little disappointing since we were thinking Flamy was just a tough little lady

I never saw a Zelf with shorter hair. I should try to buy an extra Lil'D and give him a cut.
