Hi! I was wondering this earlier with Sweet Bee, Lady B, and Kitsu how they look a little different than their stock photos. Almost like prototype variants? I was wondering if those zelfs they used for the stock images were prototypes and if they are availible to obtain somewhere. Sometimes I will read on here someone mentioning a promo version of a zelf character and im so curious! Im wondering if you can buy them from somewhere like Ebay or taobao. They are ADORABLE, especially Lady B and Chi!
Does anyone own any? Id LOVE to see pictures!

I didn't even know there were different prototype versions, I would love to see any photo's if anyone has any?
I think someone once said that Float was originally blue instead of pink somewhere on the forum, but I never saw anything to confirm?
There are a couple of pics of fake Zelfs called 'Zakies' on the forum as well, think it's Pega who has them, I'll have a look but I'm not sure if they were prototypes or someone trying to copy the Zelfs???

I think it's just a normal thing that happens. The prototypes they put on all advertising can end up different once the dolls are on shelves. I know it happens with Monster High. =)
I'm really glad Lady B looks so different compared to her stock photos. I like her without the circles around her eyes. =D

I'll have a look but I'm not sure if they were prototypes or someone trying to copy the Zelfs??? Copies. There are some Chinese sellers making bootlegs/fakes of the Zelfs. |

Yeah, that's what I thought.  I never noticed those stock photo's of Beetrice (different colour antenna), Lady B (with black gloves and red patched eyes) and Kitsu (different colouring) before either! How strange! Has anyone noticed any others??? |

The moon on Kitsu's belly is a different angle compare to his promo pic and cartoon pic. =D Oh, this is fun. Now I'm gonna have to compare the others I have with the promo pics. XD

I have the prototype Lil' D with black ears! He's a prize of my collection. I don't have any pics taken of him at the moment, though.

I would LOVE to see pictures, Dorthy!! :-) Ive been trying to find more pics online. I think as soon as I get home Im going to take pictures of my Zelfs and compare them to the stock photos! I would find that quite entertaining.

Hmmmm... I'm not sure if I read it somewhere or maybe dreamed it, but I'm sure I heard somehow that Lil'D was originally a little Devil Zelf meant to contrast with Angelala (the Angel) which might explain the black horns and pitchfork on his tummy, but Moose were worried about the backlash from some quarters for choosing to have a little devil so altered him into a Fire Sprite instead!?! Had anyone else heard something like this?

I think they just didn't want to put the term "devil" on the package for fear that little old church ladies would have heart attacks. LOL. |

catsby and Violet You've ... pretty much got it in one there. I had heard the same thing about Lil' D, and honestly my first thought was that he was a devil or demon Zelf to contrast with Angelala. But, like Violet says, there could have been a backlash against that and for a smaller company - which Moose are - it could have been pretty bad. I've not seen many prototypes, but I would love to pick up a Zakie at some point.
