Hi all! I didn't know where to post this thread, so I put it here. This morning I have receive Dolly , the magical moth from third season - she is beautiful and I absolutely love her! Anyway I was a bit disappointed because of some imperfections that I noticed once I opened the box (she was in box, new). I put some photos and I let you notice them, I really need your opinions! It's my first "brand new" Zelf and I want to know if my Dolly is ok or I have been unlucky to receive her in those conditions. Thank you!

Sadly, the Zelfs usually come with flaws. =( All the ones I've got so far have had issues (from series 2 to series 3). Someone on the forum had a Dolly whose antenna were glued in crooked. =( I haven't unboxed my Dolly yet, but I'm already expecting flaws in mine as well. Sigh.
It's really disappointing, especially for us who have to pay so much for them. It's not like we can return them easily. =(

Hi seph! Thanks for answering me! I paid her about 14 € ( 10,89 £), it's very unfair!! I don't know if you noticed it form the photos, but she has a leg slightly bigger and longer than the other! O-O

My Lullaby had a wonky leg as well. =( He tilts to one side when standing.
My Birchy had glue around the eyes. My Noodles had messy paint on his mouth. My Lochlan's neck has a gap where the head joins the body and in his leg as well. Haha. -_- I'm kinda tired of the bad quality control. *sigh* Don't let me scare you off, but just be aware that it's expected and a risk if you're buying online instead of buying them in person.

In my opinion all this "lack of quality control" is really bad!! I had an Angelala and a Howlette with glue around the eyes too, I tryed to fix it but things got worst, so I suggest you to keep birchy as he is now! The glue could be actually removed, but the eyes remain completely spoiled ... In that case I gave Angelala and Howlette away for free.

I've noticed flaws on almost all of my zelfs. The one with the most is my Dandy-Lion. He tummy coloring is stamped on off to the side, one of his side burns is smudged, and he's got black specks on the back of both his legs. I was so excited to open him that I didn't even pay attention. He's still cute though! I'm sorry about your luck with Dolly. If it makes you feel any better none of the things you showed (besides the legs when you're trying to stand her up) are really noticeable right off the bat. And her face is so cute!

To be absolutely honest, I didn't even notice the legs until you said, the only thing I could see where the black dots on the back of the legs. With my own Zelfs, I don't tend to notice any imperfections - if they are there, it wouldn't bother me so much unless it was something really notciable, but I haven't come across anything dodgy on any of mine yet. (Apart from my Strampula, which has a different colour head/body). In the words of Buttershy, in my 1st Zelf short story; - Nothing should be completely perfect anyway. Lol!

cynth, Did you use something like nail polish remover for the eyes? I think the chemical will cloud plastic. I have a factory reject Tressa from eBay with the same glue issue. I'm in the process of cutting into the head to remove the eyes. =D Hopefully I have doll eyes in the correct size so that I can swap them out to see how they look. I've seen some cat pupil doll eyes online that will probably look great on Zelfs if they come in the correct size. Starkle, I think I'm used to buying Japanese toys where things are expected to be pretty flawless, regardless of price. I'm actually at a point where I question the sensibility of paying so much for a toy that is expected to come with flaws. *wince* But then, that could be cos I already own most of what's released so far and my "obsession" is waning with all the issues I am seeing. ^_^;; If I didn't always have to factor in the price of shipping for a Zelf, and the fact that I can't return what I receive, I probably would have been more than happy to consider them a "cheap" line of toys where quality is expected to be bad. Haha. ^_^;;

Seph I used Nail polish remover and I removed also the colour of the zelf xD Don't use it! The glue can be removed with a nail file, you can lift it and than cut it.

Like Catsby I don't tend to notice imperfections unless it's absolutely obvious and the only fault I could see on your Dolly where the black marks on her legs but after seeing this thread, I decided to inspect my own Dolly that arrived today. Like yours, my Dolly does appear to have one leg longer than the other but it's not really noticeable except for when she's moved and placed someone else as she wobbles. This is the first zelf I've noticed this on, but I don't mind it too much, it kinda adds a bit more character to her. That same leg also does have a few black dots on it so it looks like it might be a repeat Dolly problem but on mine they are at the back and on the inside so again, not really noticeable.
