Thought I'd do a quick post here about how I removed the head and eyes from my factory reject Tressa. Here's the original full post on my blog if you want the full story. Otherwise, read on for the quick version. =D Removing the wig was a totally different experience from Violet's post here. Here's what happened when I pried what I thought was the wig off: It seems in my case, the wig was glued to the "cone" on top of the head and then glued into the head. I can't pry the wig off the cone at all. =( The vinyl was soft, so cutting into it was like cutting into butter. =D Here's what the inside looks like. I left the edges around the head for the cone+wig to sit on if I put it back. Removing the head was a matter of pulling it gently from the neck knob: It'll definitely be easy to pop the head back on by running the neck and/or head under hot water to soften it before pushing the neck through. To remove the eyes, you just need to push the eyes out from inside the head towards the front. =D Easy enough. Edit: Don't forget to loosen the glue around the eyes. Run the head over hot water and squeeze the vinyl around the eyes and wiggle the eyes around. One the eyes are no longer glued stuck to the vinyl sockets, they will come out easily. Hope that helps anyone who might want to customise. =D The original eyes are probably 10mm but I'm too lazy to really measure them. But they look close to the 8mm doll eyes I own. I'm definitely going to buy 8mm eyes cos the size fits, and I want to see more iris in my Zelfs. =)

Wow, thanks for the pictures! I'd love to see pictures of the Zelf with custom eyes. That's crazy that the entire top of the head came off.

Well guess what? I have a Berry Buttershy and a Float here that I've been meaning to use for customization. I took off Float's hair just now and it's the same as your Zelf! The entire top of the head came off just like your Tressa. I actually like that, because it makes it even easier to switch their hair. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my poor bald Angelala. I'm still trying to find some new hair for her. Maybe they changed the head design after they did Angelala? EDIT: Just took off Berry Buttershy's hair, too. It was the same. The entire top of the head came off. It does look like the design was changed after Angelala, because her head is hollow all the way down through the skull. I mean, I can look through the hole in the top of Angel's head, and see all the way down into the hollow head where her eyes are, because there is no extra piece blocking my view of the inside of her head, if that makes sense.

Totally makes sense about Angel's head. =D So maybe they changed the design after the initial dolls were manufactured? Or it's a different factory entirely. Were you able to pry the wigs off your Buttershy and Float's cones? I want to reuse Tressa's wig, but want to cut down the cone, so I'm still trying to figure out how to remove it with minimum damage. For Angelala, I'd make a cute (almost) bald elf. Cut down the cone and use it to create a dome for the head. Then flock it! =D What about feathers? I've seen someone make a MH wig of feathers. Looked -really- cool.

I took pictures. Poor Float and Berryshy were traumatized after this experience, but they did get to try on each other's hair. Berryshy actually looks pretty good with pink hair. I'm going to take off those stencils, though. Float doesn't look *QUITE* as good with Berryshy's hair. I haven't glued the hair down yet on either of these. I was just experimenting. Seph: I'm not going to try to get the fake fur off the cones. I'm just going to leave them as they are. I think the only thing I could do with Angelala at this point is either make a custom wig myself out of fake fur, or just give her her original hair back. LOL. A feather wig would be amazing, but I don't think I want to spend that much time on doing it. Sounds very awesome, though.

Berry looks amazing with the pink wig! =D Float definitely needs a different one that's not yellow. XD

OOooooooooooh I much prefer Buttershy with the light pink coloured hair, I think she would be much more popular like that! The garish hot pink and bright yellow doesn't really seem to go well with her personality (to me) she becomes much more softer and delicate like this (with the light pink)!
I wonder what Float would look like with blue hair???

I wonder what Float would look like with blue hair??? LOL! I ended up giving Float blue hair last night, from an extra Sealia I had. I haven't had time to take pictures yet. She looks AMAZING with blue hair. I'll take pictures today and post them later.

Thanks for posting this! I own ball-jointed dolls and I'm used to being able to change eyes in my dolls, so I like having the option of changing my zelfs' eyes!

Kinda sad that we're not able to change eyes without messing so much with the Zelf itself. Ah well. I own BJDs too, hence the need to always want to change something: be it the wig or eyes. Haha. ^_^;;

What about Series 2? Do they follow the style of Series 1 or Series 3?

What about Series 2? Do they follow the style of Series 1 or Series 3? I have no idea. I'm thinking they're probably like Series 3, because Seph's Zelf was a Tressa, which was the Series 1 playset Zelf. So not all of the Series 1 Zelfs are like Angelala, either. I'd love to de-hair all my Zelfs just to see, but since I can't find Series 1 or 2 any more, I don't want to sacrifice the ones I have.

wardah, I am guessing series 2 will be the same as series 3. I've got a Ribbit I'll cut into for sure when I get his replacement (he had a tiny cut in one eye). I'll post up here when I do. =)

So it might not even be all Series 1 Zelfs? Because my Flamy and Elfa were the same as Angelala. Maybe they changed production methods halfway through Series 1?
