So, I was thinking (as curious Cats usually do!) I wonder what you guys/gals would think if we had some sort of unofficial Zelfs almanac/wiki/head-cannon that we could all use here (depending if we can all agree on it?)... and that we could maybe influence Moose Company to include in their everyday use if it turns out to be popular enough??? For example, We know the Zelfs live in Zardenia and certain places within it, but maybe we could expand on the seperate areas/design individual houses and new places; or if you had created a brand new Zelf and wanted to include it into the head-cannon here, the bios/birthday list could be added upon and used in cannons/ships/and whatever elses! Lol. (maybe the ships or family relationships would be discounted as we obviously have our own opinions and none of them are right/wrong...dunno really) What do you reckon???  |

Okay I have 3 things, let me know if you agree or not!?!
1, Zelf should NEVER meet or talk to humans. I think it would kinda ruin the illusion for me. Zelfs live in their own world, humans shouldn't ever visit Zardenia either.
2, Zelfs can be born but can NEVER die. That would be way too sad. They kinda live forever.
3, Zelfs can be brothers and sisters, cousins or distantly related to one another somehow, but aren't mums and dads biologically speaking. Zelfs are born some other way.
(I guess if 5 or more people like this post, then they agree and its adopted into our cannon. If you have other opinions or proposals, either one or many, just post away and the more likes it gets, the more people agree with you and it becomes Zelf fact, okay???) Does that seem fair?

I've got the zelfs meeting all sorts of different beings in the story I'm trying to work on, including wizards and other humaney-types, but I totally agree on Zardenia being their own private oasis just for them. <3 I sort of view it as their own zelfy version of Atlantis, their little lost city tucked away. I think in my personal canon, the zelfs -can- die (just to make the baddies more threatening), but I also believe that just because they can, doesn't mean they will. I couldn't bring myself to do it! I also have most of them with a set lifespan because it makes the special immortal clan that Jewely, Clover and Snowphie get promoted to that much more of an honor. But again, that's my personal take on it! Other personal takes so far: - my version of Pega Sue was raised by trolls and acts as the reader's introduction to zelfs, since she's learning about who she really is too! She's smart as her canon-zelf, but she never learned to fly and she's been brought up a bit more uncouth than a zelf would (Coco will probably have a field day with her). - my Elfa can understand and talk to animals. This is something my daughter insisted on! She and Howlette are close because Howlette can transform into a wolf, and Elfa still understands her speech whenever she's transformed. - I know a lot of people consider Noodles to be male but I've written the character as female. Amber mentioned she thought of Noodles as a girl so that's who I defer to. Noodles' power enables her to heal the sick, but in return it makes her ill. So, heal a cold, get a cold! She's all too happy to do it. - I've written one of Vampula's powers as being able to bite someone and instead of sucking their blood like a normal vampire would, she causes their inner beauty to come to the surface. So, she could bite someone who's beautiful on the outside, and if they're wicked at heart they'll reflect that, and vice versa. - My Mermalade is mostly deaf, and lipreads to understand the other zelfs. She was injured during a diving adventure. I did this because I'm mostly writing the story for my daughter, and I love seeing all types of characters celebrated and included. How To Train Your Dragon does this so darn well. - I see Birchy as the leader of his clan. I've noticed a lot of people like to think of Birchy in a leadership role, and I think having a gentle and paternal type character as a leader is always a plus. - My zelfs have their powers enhanced by the little charms they come with, which I've been writing as special amulets that they discover. - I still see Dorothy-Doe and Manny as a thing since I saw they both live in the Deer Lodge, ahaha.. Who else wants to board the good ship Manny-Doe?  Lil' D I see as having a puppy love crush on Angelala, who's a bit too old for him. Sorta like the Spike x Rarity relationship, she thinks of him as a cute kid. - My slightly younger zelfs (zelflings?) are Lil' D, Ribbita, and Dandy-Lion. Slightly older (but still younger than the rest of the gang) are Snap Jack, Elfa, & Float. Maybe Frostette, Lullaby or Sugar Bunny too? I'm not sure yet! Kitsu is one of the older zelfs, more middle aged (I figured, she's a kitsune and she's earned two extra tails already somehow, maybe she's going for the full nine!). The rest are older teenagers to early 20s equivalents. Miss Clover, Jewely, and Snowphie are effectively immortal. - I have too many dorky ideas! Anyhow, if anyone wants to borrow any of these, cool. If not, still cool. I think the great thing about the zelfs are that we can all imagine different things for them! I do really love your idea of Zelfs being born via something magical, Catsby! I'm not sure if my zelfs have parents or if they're just raised by their collective clans yet, but I know my Pega Sue has three troll parents: A mom, a dad, and an honorary parent in the troll village librarian (since she spends so much time there!) |

I love lots of your ideas Princess Crystella! It sounds like your story will be epic!!! Can't wait to read it! Thanks for sharing more ideas and info! I may even try and incorporate some into my little stories, look out for this week's Snap Jack one, a certain rainbow haired, pink winged Zelf makes an appearance! Lol. I can totally see Birchy and Elfa being related too alonetogether! Genders aren't really important to me, if people write or draw them a certain way I can totally see it from different points of view!! If anyone has other opinions, please feel free to share - don't be shy!!! Its interesting to hear all different takes on Zelfs and how we see them all! |

Hm... personal head-canons. I always head-canoned that:
- Elfa and Clover were related, and Elfa was the outgoing one to Miss Clover's shyness.
- Kitsu may be the wisest of the Zelfs, but also the biggest prankster among them
- Dandy-Lion and Catsby are distant cousins.
- Catsby is the detective of the Zelfs - he can solve pretty much anything brought to him (and yes, I see Catsby as male. I think it's because his poem reminded me strongly of Mister Mistoffelees.)
- Lil' D and Flamy are part of some Zelf Guard - they protect the others
I'll post more when I can think on them ><

I'm hoping every member of the forum chooses a Zelf from the 'Others' section here, and creates their own individual Zelf from it, that we can include!
For instance, >>>>>> chooses a Penguin Zelf, that is black, white and yellow with igloos and penguin foot prints on its tummy, there is a penguin also on its leg. This Zelfs name is Polo and it's Power is Coziness! She is an adorable, warm hearted little flapper, who sees the best in all situations.
