Hello everyone, My name is Nadine and I am from the Netherlands! My daughter and I collect Zelfs, the Midi ones and some small ones! I just completed the first serie, which unfortunately is the only serie released here... That brings me to my first questions, the ones I have bought today are a bit different from the ones I already had. They were in a English packaging (no dutch translation on it) and they all (7) have glue around their eyes!? Is this a default? Are they factory rejects? Is there a way to remove the glue without damaging the Zelfs or their eyes? It's nice to meet you all!

Hi! Welcome to the forums, Nadine! That's a very strange occurance! I do know that a couple of my Zelfs have glue on random parts of them, but not around their eyes! Do you have a picture?

Hi Nadine! Welcome to the forums! Good to meet you! I'm after quite a few from series 1, so if you ever fancied doing a trade across the ponds (I'm in the UK) for Series 3/4, I'm game! I've had to remove glue from toys before. The best advice I can give is to boil some water, let it cool off a little, then use that water to rub at the areas where the glue is stained. That will usually shift it (works with Monster High dolls). Otherwise, using pure acetone will work brilliantly, but you have to be very careful as it's essentially paint remover. Good luck

Thanks twinklestah! But it's not a stain or a bit of glue... I hope my picture works... And those series 1 I have bought, are only two euro's! I can send them to you if you like? But they all have those weird eyes... www.flickr.com/gp/107127674@N05/EA4f60

Welcome nadine! I have seen glue issues with factory seconds being sold on eBay from Chinese sellers but I didn't know that the packaged ones could have it too. Yikes! I hope you have success cleaning them.

I see what you mean! I wonder if that's why they're only 2 euros? I hope you're able to get at least some of the glue out, though! The only thing I did with my Webina is scratch it away. I don't recommend it, though

Hi Nadine, Welcome to the forums! Hope you enjoy it here?!? Yeah I have seen a few Chinese factory rejects with glue around their eyes (giving them a glassy eyed look) but like Pega Sue said, I haven't seen any boxed Zelfs with this defect! Hope you manage to sort them out???

Thanks guys! Today I went to other stores from the same franchise and all the Zelfs they are selling have this eye condition!!! It's so weird! I was hoping to find some normal ones, so I could switch them with mine... But no luck! I think I have seen 50 Zelfs and they all had it... I will keep you updated about the glue removal adventure!

Hey and welcome to the forum! I've seen this issue with Zelfs from Singapore, China and Hong Kong. I ordered a Tressa off eBay (China), the photo on the listing didn't have the eye issue but mine did :/ I haven't tried removing the glue yet. Please let us know how it goes!

Well I have tried to get it out with my nails, after holding the zelf under hot water and it worked... Kind of, because the most glue came of, but you can still see a bit around the eyeballs... I will try to fix it later! I am not sure if I like the way the eye looks now, I think it looks better with the glue untouched...

Oh no, that's a shame As I say, acetone works well, but it's such a gamble because you don't want to remove any of the original paint. Best of luck when you try again!

Well... I failed... Nail polish remover made her eye so matte!? And didn't do anything with the glue at all... Sharp pointed knife didn't do the trick either... No my Howlette looks like she's blind on one eye... Try to find another one! flic.kr/p/s5r8b1

Was it just standard nail polish remover you used? I use pure acetone based stuff on my toys - it's a little more expensive, but works a lot better. Sorry to hear what happened with Howlette! maybe you could customise her & paint a little eyepatch on?

Well, I use the non aceton nailpolish remover, because I know what aceton can do with other plastic dolls... Maybe it works differtently on Zelfs, will look for aceton!

I've used it on My Little Pony figures before to remove the symbols to customise my own, and it's been fine - it's just removed the symbols but none of the bottom later of paint. Same goes with removing the faces on Monster High dolls. Good luck again!
