So I recently befriended the lady responsible for our new favorite collections! It's so amazing to chat with someone that helps bring you joy! I asked her if she'd like us to send our ideas for Zelfs in, as she actually helps the design team! She hasn't replied yet but I thought I'd go ahead and ask.. Is there any Zelf creations, or ideas you have that you'd like me to show her?  |

YESYESYES OMG. Could you suggest zodiac zelfs please? Oh! And how about a kangaroo with a little pouch for storing a charm or a mini? And baby zelflings, and auugh I have too many I wanna see I'm afraid to post them all, haha. Can we make a master list of everyone's ideas and pin it maybe? |

I hate to rain on anyzelf's parade, but couldn't there be copyright issues with her looking at our suggestions for Zelf designs? Like, how, it's never a good idea for an author to look at fan-fiction of their work, in case their accused of outright stealing an idea? (There is a case in which a fan was able to claim a good percentage of the rights of the original work due to it having a similar idea to their fan-fiction, but I can't remember it off-hand, I will look it up)

I would imagine werepuppy is right, since so many people out there like to sue people these days... But it would be wonderful if they could be taken into consideration still! I'd still love to see a hyena Zelf, or maybe a hedgehog Zelf |

Thing is, our concepts are vague and fairly obvious.
If we say like a Zodiac Lion Zelf, blue, with frisy hair and green spots named Leoni, and they come up with the exact same thing, yeah.
But as long as our concepts are free to be interpreted in any way, I don't think they could get in trouble.

Sorry, I hate to be the negative one >.< Actually, no. You cannot copyright an idea that has no physical form. The only way someone might claim ownership of an idea for a Zelf is if they actually painted the Zelf as a custom, but then Moose Toys would STILL hold the copyright to the Zelf form and image, so there would be no way someone could say "Moose stole their idea" and sue. I think the chance of that winning in court would be next to zero. In other words, the person who did the custom couldn't claim a copyright on someone else's copyright. The fan fiction case would have been a different story (LOL), because of the situation, and because it was written down in a form that would be considered published (even if it's only on the internet). Even that case would have been iffy, because fan fiction is technically a violation of someone else's copyright. (I took a libel and copyright class in college as part of a journalism curriculum.) |
