Zelf Characters

I LOVE HIM.
He's *exactly* as I imagined him from your description...and I'm now very excited to draw him for you! ahhhh!

I've got a few!

Miney-Mo is a bluecap zelf based on a prototype I found. She's an inquisitive, mischievous youngster with a blue flame on the end of her long tail.

Excaliburro/Jenny Xote (can't pick a name for her!) is a brave but clumsy donkey knight zelf with a windmill symbol. She loves to go adventuring with her pony friend.

Hedgefog/Hoggy Skies (another one I can't pick a name for) - a flying hedgehog zelf. She's got both prickles and wings on her back, and rolls into a ball when she flies in the sky. Some would say she loves to live life high on the hog!

No pics yet! Well, I had one of Miney-Mo from awhile back but I never got around to coloring it! I'll hafta dig it up WHAT ARE YOU DOOOING CATAROOSE

Love your season zelfs too (especially the one with the sunflower theme - sunflowers are my favourite and the idea of the Elders. Great stuff!



Thought I'd share mine too. WhimsiCal!
She's my first "real" Zelfs OC (the cataroose Zelf is more just one of my other characters as a zelf).
Her Zelf power is Curiosity! Not in a negative sense, like 'curiosity killed the cat', but more that she loves to learn and explore and has lots of different interests. Sometimes this gets her a little bit muddled up and overwhelmed, so she takes naps a lot to recharge! But, on the whole, she loves exploring Zardenia and making new discoveries.
As well as this, she likes to collect things. Little trinkets and bits and bobs.
(She's a bit of a nod to how I feel about collecting toys! I'm not sure if the Zelfs have toys in their world but WhimsiCal's certainly fond of collecting shiny treasures!)
Her Fabitat is the Sparkling Cove - I guess each Zelf needs their own Fabitat, so I made one up for her? It's a little secluded cove where she stores her nick-nacks and sleeps! 
(WhimsiCal is inspired in part by myself but also, oddly enough, Ariel from the Little Mermaid, with her home!)
Also her name is a play on words as my name is Cally

I want to make up more zelfs soon!
I kinda like collecting toys with themes (sweets/bakery theme, spooky, space themes) so I might make more zelfs up inspired by all that.

This guy is a new character I made up today for Catsby's Zunger Games contest - I ended up getting quite attatched already!

Name: Orion

Zelf Bio: Orion likes nothing better than to look at the night sky! He loves learning about the stars and planets, and does his own sketches of the constellations and patterns he can see while he's stargazing. Because of this, Orion likes to sleep during the day so he has plenty of energy for his astronomy at night!

Birthday: 15th February (William Herschel's birthday - Herschel was the scientist who discovered orion!)

The colours here don't really look as exact as I'd like - I need to devote more a day off to Zelf art and bust out my watercolours, I think!! - but his wings are more of a golden colour, and he has the Orion constellation as his symbol.

I'm actually really excited at the prospect of making up more Zelf characters, with Catsby's contest and just in general, so...expect more!

I'd like to intoduce Quilligan Blot (I think its myself in Zelf form!) Hope y'all like him?!? 

He is a medium blue Zelf, with dark blue hair with a purple and teal stripe. His feet and ears are purple on one side and teal on the other (ignore the stripes up his legs I'm gonna get rid of them), and his tummy symbol is a book with a quill with little coloured stars dotted around. 

Quilligan Blot is a ready, willing and able Zelfie, who's always up for an adventure or three! He loves exploring and being at one with nature and the environment. He has a trusty backpack, which contains his books, papers, pens, paints, quills and camera for him to document anything and everything. He's friendly, charming and sweet and manages to calm everyone down with his cheery persona and big hugs! Princess Crystella is always dragging him off on adventures, as her official scribe, and she gets him into trouble with the Royal Family, who think she should be more regal and ladylike but wherever she goes, he is ordered to follow. She may have a teeny crush on him, but he is oblivious! He loves books and writing, art and drawing and even photography, anything artistic really and gets on well with all Zelfs. He is also an excellent listener and his best friend is Snowphie.

Ok, I've caught the custom zelf creating bug! Here are the bios of all the ones I've got so far.. hoping to make them into actual customs someday! All the unicorn hybrids were inspired by our wonderful admin, Galexia! 

 Excaliburro - a donkey-knight zelf. She is brash and dreamy, often imagining grand adventures for herself and getting into a pickle when things don’t go as smoothly as she hopes. She tends to think so much about the final picture that she forgets that everything needs a plan first. Power: extravagance. (Color scheme: glittery silver armor over tan fur, red hair with a rainbow streak, reddish-brown eyes. Powermark: A windmill.)

Grant - a foo dog crystal zelf. He guards the gates of Dreamworld and fights away any nightmares that try to sneak in. Power: guardian (Color scheme: glittery gold with red and green accents, red and blue hair, gold eyes. Powermark: A stone foo dog and a crystal gate to San Francisco Chinatown)

Twosday - a two-horned unicorn zelf. Having two horns and double the magic isn’t as great as it sounds. Twosday often has trouble using her magic because activating one horn causes the other to start going haywire! This zelf knows how to be extra gentle and cautious with her massive magic. Power: precision Color scheme: pastel purple with pink and pastel orange accents, yellow & white hair, two small glittery clear blue horns, yellow eyes. Powermark: two unicorns connected by a rainbow)

Glumly - a butterflyena zelf. A hybrid of butterfly and hyena, Glumly is highly sensitive and doesn’t quite take after her hyena side very much. In fact, she’s often crying over the smallest things. But all her friends agree, she’s a great zelf to have around if you need to share some sad feelings with someone. Shared pain is lessened, after all. Power: empathy (Color scheme: light tan with brown spots, pastel green & baby blue hair with white frosted tips, deep orange eyes, brown tail, pastel pink wings with green & blue clear glitter accents. Powermark: a hyena)

Skydancer - a butterfly-unicorn zelf. With a horn, two antennae, and beautiful wings, Skydancer is a sight to behold. This fancy flutterer is fond of showing off his skills in the sky where everyone can see. He’s proof that butter and ‘corn are always a great combo! Power: Loftiness (Color scheme: pink with deep aqua accents, black antennae, orange horn, green eyes, white hair with aqua and orange streaks, monarch butterfly wings. Powermark: Ballet shoes with butterfly wings)

High Roller - a winged hedgehog zelf. She lives life high on the hog! She has a curious way of flying; she rolls into a ball first and then takes off. She’s never quite sure of where she’s going, but she knows that it’s sure to be an adventure. Power: taking risks (Color scheme: tan and white with brown furry prickles, blue eyes, pink hair with white frosted tips. Powermark: a hedgehog on a cloud)

Melodica - a music fairy zelf. Born mostly blind, Melodica doesn’t let that stop her. She can create music out of thin air, and has learned to rely on her ears to act as her eyes. For musical mastery, this is one zelf who tips the scales! Power: music magic (Color scheme: white with black and gold accents, musical scales for wings, purple eyes with gray pupils, musical note antennae, white hair with gold and black tinsel. Powermark: musical scales and notes.)

Giselle - a pegazelle zelf. High energy and excitable, this pegasus-gazelle mix is always ready to leap high into the sky about something! She’s hard to pin down; when she’s not making loop de loops in the air, she’s busy bounding across the ground! Power: over-zealousness (Color scheme: traditional gazelle colors, pink and purple hair, blue eyes, White pearly wings. Powermark: a leaping gazelle)

Bramble - a deer zentaur. With a majestic set of antlers and a thirst for adventure, Bramble is always ready to leap into action. He looks delicate and dainty, and he certainly can be, but what he lacks in strength he makes up for in bravery. He’s proof that you can be both tough and gentle at the same time. Power: valor (Color scheme: Traditional deer colors, glittery white antlers, deep aqua hair, gold eyes. Powermarks: heraldry stag on upper body, meadowsweets on flanks)

Sunbeams - a zebracorn zelf. With a crystal clear horn and glittery stripes, Sunbeams is a lovely mix of zebra and unicorn. Not only that, he’s great at adapting and trying out new things, proving that a zebra can indeed change his stripes! Power: adaptation (Color scheme: White with red, orange, pink and yellow glittery stripes, pink eyes, pink and orange hair, clear glittery horn. Powermark: a zebra striped heart)

Icicle - a polarcorn zelf. A cool mix of polar bear and unicorn, Icicle is usually seen knitting and crocheting in a flurry. He loves to create warm, homemade crafts to share with all his ZFFs. Not only that, he’s great at teaching you how to DIY, that is, Do-It-Yazelf! Power: craftiness. (Color scheme: white with glittery blue accents, pastel blue and white frosted hair with silver tinsel, blue eyes, blue curly-haired tail with silver tinsel, glittery white horn. Powermark: knitting needles and mittens)

Mimsy - a mock turtle zelf (resembles a winged calf w/ turtle shell). Mimsy sometimes has a hard time coming out of his shell for fear of being teased. He’s got some social anxieties and would almost always prefer to curl up with a book instead of hang out in a crowd. But every so often, he lets loose and becomes a wonderland of wacky! The other zelfs know to give him space until he feels comfortable opening up, and he’s a great guy to chat with if you’re feeling nervous or worried. Power: overcoming fear (Color scheme: light brown with pastel yellow accents, pink eyes, a shell with swirl designs in different shades of green, yellow and pink hair, white pearly wings coming from the turtle shell. Powermark: a jabberwocky)

Mchumba - a bongo zentaur. Half bongo, half centaur, Mchumba is the savannah’s biggest sweetheart. She’s always ready to go the extra mile for a friend, and often travels where other zelfs cannot just to bring back special gifts for all her ZFFs. She’s a bit of a hoarder whenever she travels, always picking up this or that so she can pass it on to a pal. Power: thoughtfulness (Color scheme: traditional bongo coloration, purple eyes, light blue hair with pink and purple streaks. Powermarks: hearts on upper body, bongo drums in the shape of hearts on flank, surrounded by smaller hearts)

Honeyhop - a bunnybee zelf. Part bee and part lop bunny, Honeyhop is the zelf-appointed news reporter among her friends. She’s always buzzing about, looking for a scoop. A one-zelf sting operation, she’s even sent a couple crime committers down the rabbit hole! Power: reporting (Color scheme: yellow and black with creamy yellow accents, deep orange eyes, pink and black hair, pink glittery wings. Powermark: A microphone with a honeycomb instead of a mic)

Yapunzel - a lhasa apso zelf. All zelfs have hair out to there, but Yapunzel’s the hairiest! She’s extremely proud of her long, flowing locks, and she’s often putting fancy braids and barrettes all over her body! Yapunzel isn’t just hair-brained and looks-obsessed though, she’s got a punny sense of humor. Her doggishness and willingness to laugh at herzelf makes her bangstastic to be around! Power: Hair-larity (Color scheme: White, light pink, and light purple, no eyes visible, light blue and purple hair. Powermark: a lhasa apso on a leash)

Humphrey - a camel zelf. Humphrey is used to going through life with a few bumps along the road. Thankfully he knows how to navigate them, with diligence, planning, and a magic carpet or two! Power: traveling smart (Color scheme: Light brown with pale tan accents, blue eyes, small brown ‘fro in front of hair, purple hair with multicolored streak featuring magic carpet colors: ie blue, red, yellow. Powermark: A map and an oasis.)

Calliope - a cow zentaur. As a calf, Calliope was told she would never be as fast as the other zentaurs. After all, cows aren’t as agile as deer or quick as horses. But with a lot of hard work and determination, Calliope proved them all wrong. She’s now one of the fastest zelfs you’ll ever meet! It just goes to show you, don’t judge the cow-ver of a book. Power: Determination (Color scheme: White with rose colored patches, green eyes, pink, black & white hair. Powermarks: cowbell with wings on upper body, stars on flank)

Curly-Tail - a pig zelf. This prim porker doesn’t want her porcine heritage dragged through the mud. She’s smart as a whip, fit as a fiddle, and notoriously neat. In fact, other zelfs come to her for help with organizing, and she’s the zelf to turn to if you need a big event planned, stress-free. Never one to hog the scene, Curly-Tail keeps things running smoothly behind the curtains. Power: oinkanization (Color scheme: pink with light gray spots, blue eyes, white hair with purple and gray swirls. Powermark: a pig)

BBQutie - a flying buffalo zelf. She is a fiery soul with a passion for cooking. The problem is that everything she makes tends to be quite spicy! Power: Adding spice to your life! (Color scheme: Brown and light brown, deep orange eyes, pink hair with red and yellow accents, white pearly wings with the wingtips turning into red orange and yellow clear glittery flames. Powermark: A leaping buffalo)

Ellington - jazz fairy zelf. What other flying feline zelf has a saxophone for a tail and an inborn sense of style and rhythm? Ellington is the duchess of dixieland, a soulful swinger who knows a thing or two about syncopation. In short, she’s one cool cat! Power: improvisation (Color scheme: Blue with black and gold accents, yellow eyes, blue and black hair, shiny gold saxophone for tail, pearly white wings with small gold trumpets crossing in the middle of her back. Powermark: a saxophone with notes emerging from it)

Clipper - lobster zelf. With strong pincers instead of fingers, Clipper finds it very important to know her own strength so she doesn’t hurt any of her friends. If you need a zelf who knows how to use her unique talents to help, Clipper makes the cut! Power: cutting to the chase (Color scheme: salmon pink with glittery red accents, blue eyes, red hair. Powermark: a lobster)

Hisstletoe - holiday serpent zelf. This rattlesnake zelf wishes that she were a reindeer, to the point of wearing fake antlers and a red nose! She loves anything having to do with the holidays, from decorating wreaths to baking gingerbread cookies. If it’s a sleigh ride or carols you want to sing, she’ll be there to shake, rattle and roll with it! Power: holiday cheer (Color scheme: traditional rattlesnake markings in browns, reddish pinks and greens, green eyes, green and red hair with gold tinsel, golden bells for rattle, naga body. Powermark: A wreath.)

Highpurr - lynx zentaur. Always bouncing and pouncing everywhere, Highpurr is chaotic, frenetic, and shows her enthusiasm in leaps and bounds. She can come across as exhausting to the more introverted zelfs like Buttershy and Princess Crystella, so she’s learning to dial it down when needed. Power: hyperness (Color scheme: gray with white accents and purple markings, blue eyes, light blue hair with purple and pink streaks. Powermarks: lynx on upper body, springs on flanks)

Fangette - a vampire-unicorn zelf. Who’s black and pink and red all over? Fangette, that’s who! This night-dwelling pony uses her dark magic for good, but isn’t above sinking her teeth into a little mischief now and then. She’s a fan of the macabre, and of showing a different side to all things spooky and misunderstood: Power: good impressions (Color scheme: bluish black, yellow eyes, sparkly red and pink wings, red and black hair, candy corn colored horn. Powermark: candy corn)

Staticorn - an electric unicorn zelf. This steampunk robo-pony can be a little shocking! She doesn’t run down easily, and is always in it for the long run! Power: endurance (Color scheme: glittery bronze, blue eyes, blue horn with lightbulb on top, white electric shocks emanating from horn to silver antennae, white hair with rainbow streak, rainbow tail. Powermark: electricity ball)

Nyxie - a uniwere zelf. Part unicorn, part werewolf, Nyxie doesn’t quite know where she belongs. She’s too scary for a unicorn, and too tame for a werewolf. She’s learning to carve her own niche, with horn and claws! Power: knowing “were” you belong! (Color scheme: gray with dark gray accents, yellow eyes, pastel rainbow hair and tail, purple horn. Powermark: A wolf howling inside a moon)

Summer - a cerberus zelf. A three-headed dog may look scary, but Summer would much rather relax in the sunshine than scare anyone. Her frightening appearance is offputting to some, but those that get to know her find themselves with the best-best-BEST zelfie anyone could ask for! Why the name Summer? Her individual heads are named June, July, and August. Power: The bestest friend you can be, times three! (Color scheme: dark gray. Eye colors are blue, green, and pink. Hair is blue and green, blue and pink, and green and pink. Powermark: cerberus)

Dasha - a cheetah zentaur. When Dasha was a zentaurling, she fell ill and had to have a front leg removed. Now she can’t run quite as fast as the other zentaurs, but that has never stopped her. She can do pretty much anything any other zelf or zentaur can do, just a little differently. Dasha doesn’t mind questions about her missing limb and often says, “Don’t just stare, come over and chat!” Power: celebrating differences (Color scheme: pastel yellow with white accents, black spots, deep orange eyes, light green hair with black spots. Powermarks: a cheetah head on upper body, smiling suns on flank)


 

You must have such a good imagination! Loved reading these and picturing them all - I especially loved Excaliburro and Sunbeams.

And awwww I'd totally love that, Angelala! I adore the pictures you did of Excaliburro!! I was planning on using these custom characters in a comic project among other things to develop their personalities more, so I'd be thrilled to see them come to life!

They sound brilliant Angelala, I would go and buy Zofia right now if I could!
