Hi all, I thought it was about time we had a thread where we could talk about and discuss the beautiful sculpted creations by Amber Matthies, that inspired our very own Zelfs, so I've set it up here!

Feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, favourites or how you came across these adorable little creatures!!!

I copied Violets post from another thread here, with the links to Amber's work! -

Yeah, the story is that Moose Toys was inspired by Amber Matthies' work, and paid her for the rights to produce a toy line that was inspired by her trollflings, and that's how we got the Zelfs.

Her sculptures are very Brian Froud-ish (who did the art for Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal).

I could literally spend hours looking at these! I love the fantasy aspect of these Trollflings, they're exactly the sort of creatures I could imagine roaming around a book I'm working on!!! Unbelievably cute and detailed, each one is unique and you can clearly see where the origins of the Zelfs came from!!!

Look at the amazing detail, from the sculpt to the colouring, to the little faces in the rocks! Sooooo cute!!!!

Did you guess??? Angelala, Garny and Birchy - of course!!! Here are a couple more! Spellinda and Jewely! Oh I would love to have one of these of my very own, one day!!! I absolutely love the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth filsm, and these remind me so much of them!

I heard about these soon after getting into Zelfs. They're absolutely adorable!
Very charming, and I can definitely see the Brian Froud influence.

So interesting to see the original versions of familiar Zelfs too! I absolutely LOVE the first Garny - I want!

So last week I received my first Trollfling from Amber Matthies, and I must say they're even more cuter in person! I got a little blue dragon called Ramie and he is soooooo amazing! The detailing is impeccable, from the tail and spikes, his glass eyes, the rocks he sitting on complete with crystal! I would definitely reccommend checking out the Trollflings site and getting your own! and this is from the original creator of Zelfs too, so its like saying thankyou for creating these wonderful toys that we all so love!

Starkle: Hey Dreamcatcher, whilst you're over in the UK I would take advantage of finding the Zelfs you can't find so easily in Spain! I love the Design Your Zelf, its cute and you can practice making new Zelfs on it too!
